The Student Council is representative of the whole student body. There are twelve members; each class nominates two students; one boy, one girl. With the help of CSPE, elections are held using the same procedures as those of the national elections i.e. secret ballot/ballot-boxes/returning officers.

At the first meeting the students elect the officers, a chairperson, secretary, treasurer and PRO. They agree on the constitution. The student council meets approximately once a month and more often as required. The student council gives more responsibility to the students and allows them to participate more fully in school life. The student council deals with student concerns as identified by their members from sport to uniform and student-welfare.

The council, in conjunction with the principal has been active in introducing new uniform, segregated bins, in raising funds for charity and for their school, in supporting An Gaisce venture weekend, in organising hot drinks at break-time and in many other projects.
